Back to School Photo Shoot fundraiser

Capture Sunshine: Back To School Shoot

One of our friend’s sister was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. She lives here locally in Arizona and has 4 young children. You can read all about Ashley’s journey here. She has gone through radiation and chemo. She is scheduled for surgery and then will undergo more chemo. Colon cancer is such a drag, I mean seriously. Actually any type of cancer is a drag. My mom has terminal cancer right now and watching what she goes through on a daily basis is terrifying. I don’t like it. Unfortunately my mom lives in California so there is not much I can do for her. It has come to my attention how much having cancer really does affect the person and the family and friends that surround that person. That is why I decided to do a fundraiser photo shoot for  Ashley.

We picked a couple of days to do the shoot, rounded up some fun props, and then let people know about it. We had a great response!! We were booked up for the two days we did it and then afterward we had more people calling and emailing and wanting to sign up. I felt terrible turning people away, but there is only so much time in a day. We ended up with 26 kids from 9 families who came through. We were busy, but we were so happy to help out!

Our friend Emily (from The Banner Shoppe) donated her back to school banner for the shoot. Our friend Allison (from AZ Momtourage) came one morning to help out. And my friend Melissa rounded up for the props from a friend of hers. It all came together so smoothly!! And to Ashley, we wish you the best and are sending lots of prayers your way!!
