Desert Botanical Gardens – Flashlight Tours

Last week, my mom, my niece, Ashleigh and I  headed to the Desert Botanical Gardens to checkout the Flashlight Tours. It was a fun little excursion. We walked the gorgeous gardens as the sun was setting catching up with one another and capturing the beauty of the desert. As we walked we came across the informative and kind garden guides  maning stations along the pathways. One station housed a tarantula and scorpion, thank goodness they were caged! The garden guide informed us that if we want to go scorpion hunting we can purchase a small purple light flashlight from Wal-mart, apparently the scorpions will ‘glow’ under the light. Anyone up for a scorpion hunt?!

We did not find any scorpions with our flashlights (thank goodness) but we did used them to get a close up of a couple of HUGE frogs and to light our path as we walked.

Thanks for a fun evening, ladies!

Oh my gosh! What a fun thing to do! I’ve never heard of anything like that but it sounds totally great! I’m sure there is whole other side to the gardens that you see at night, and plus, oh my, that sunset! To die for!
